Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman, has confirmed that the club has given Carles Alena permission to leave this month.
The midfielder is expected to move on loan.
The 23-year-old has struggled to establish himself this season, only starting once in his five appearances across LaLiga and the Champions League.
Alena's career best in appearances for Barca came in the 2018/2019 campaign, when he played 27 times in all competitions.
He spent half of last season on loan at Real Betis and has been linked with Getafe on a deal that will likely run until the end of the season.
"Alena has permission from the club to seek his exit," Koeman told a news conference ahead of Wednesday's trip to Athletic Club.
"When everything is done, I will be able to give an opinion, but there are players who can decide to stay or not. He has decided to seek his exit."
