The Enugu state government has debunked the rumor of constructing a phone-charging station for the GburuGburu community area in the state capital.
Photos of a phone-charging booth in the name of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi circulated the social media space earlier yesterday and attracted reactions from Nigerians across the nation.
The chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu state, Engr Abel Uchenna Nwobodo, however, denied the story as misleading.
In a statement, the council chairman stated categorically, "The governor and his administration are not involved in the project.
"The said project is a private initiative of an illustrious son of Nara in Nkanu East LGA as a means of contributing to the development of the community, which has nothing to do with any government."
Nwobodo, therefore, called on the general public to disregard the rumor as it was meant to mislead and misinform.
