Chelsea vs Southampton: Pat Nevin names two Blues players giving Lampard selection headache

Chelsea legend, Pat Nevin, has identified Mason Mount and Reece James as the Blues players that are giving manager, Frank Lampard, a selection headache ahead of their next Premier League clash with Southampton on Saturday at the Stamford Bridge.

Mount and James are both currently away on international duty with England, who face Denmark on Wednesday night before the players return to their respective clubs.

The pair featured in England's 3-0 win and 2-1 victory against Wales and Belgium, respectively, a few days ago.

Neither Mount nor James played in Chelsea's 4-0 win against Crystal Palace before the international break, but Nevin now believes the duo have now left Lampard with a selection dilemma against Southampton.

"Had Reece James and Mason Mount not got those [England] caps over the past week, they might have come back to training at Cobham far from bubbly," Nevin was quoted by Chelsea's official website as saying on Tuesday.

"As it is, they will be buzzing, happy and confident, the perfect recipe for players to produce their best football.

"Because of this, Frank [Lampard] has a very tough task picking the team for Southampton on Saturday with those two up for it as much as they have ever been. The favourite problem any manager ever has."
