Lincoln City coach, Michael Appleton, has revealed what Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, told him after his side's Carabao Cup 7-2 defeat against the Premier League champions on Thursday.
Appleton said Klopp told him well done and wished him good luck for the rest of the 2020/21 season.
Liverpool defeated Lincoln at the LNER Stadium thanks to goals from Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino (2), Curtis Jones (2), Marko Grujic and Divock Origi.
"Jurgen just came over and said well played and good luck for the rest of the season, which is a nice touch from him," Appleton was quoted by Liverpool Echo as saying after the game.
"He has done a great job there over the last few years. They had a good mix of experience and youth today."
He added: "I thought we saw a masterclass of finishing from Liverpool in the first half. If we put a bucket in the top corner, they would have hit it every time.
"There were some fantastic finishes. You get punished by these types of sides."
Liverpool will now face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup fourth round tie next week.
