Rennes goalkeeper, Eduoard Mendy, is expected to arrive in Germany on Tuesday, to undergo his medicals with Chelsea, according to RMC.
The two clubs have agreed a £27.96m fee for the Senegal international, after weeks of negotiations.
The Blues will pay around £22.5m upfront to Rennes, with an extra £5.46m arriving in achievable add-ons.
Mendy will sign a five-year deal with the Stamford Bridge club, after undergoing his medical check-up.
The 28-year-old will undergo his medical in Berlin, Germany because of COVID-19 restrictions currently in place in the United Kingdom.
Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has already made it clear that any goalkeeper signing will challenge Kepa Arrizabalaga for the no1 spot in his team.
Kepa committed an error in Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, when Sadio Mane intercepted his pass out to tap into an empty net.
Lampard has already confirmed that Willy Caballero will be between the posts, when they face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
