Paris Saint-Germain's sporting director, Leonardo, has admitted they were tempted to go for Lionel Messi, after he told Barcelona he wanted to leave.
Messi declared his intention to quit via a fax last week.
However, the LaLiga giants insisted that potential buyers would have to match his €700million release clause.
Messi has since made a u-turn and will stay at the Camp Nou for the 2020/2021 season.
Although Manchester City were seen as favourites for the 33-year-old's signature, PSG have now said they considered making a move too.
"Today when you think about the financial situation it's complicated.
"When we are told Messi wants to leave, we are tempted. You say to yourself, will it be f*cking possible? They are players completely out of any discussion.
"I don't know, David Beckham ended up at Paris Saint-Germain, Messi ending up in Paris? I don't know," Leonardo told Telefoot.
