Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said they lost 3-1 to Lyon in the Champions League quarter-final, because they lacked the perfection needed in the competition.
Guardiola has now failed to lead City into the semi-final for the fourth consecutive year.
The former Premier League champions fell behind to Maxwel Cornet's goal in the first half, before drawing level through Kevin De Bruyne.
However, Moussa Dembele stepped up from the bench, to net twice and sealed a famous victory.
"It is what it is and hopefully, one day we'll bridge this gap," Guardiola told BT Sport.
"We struggled in the first 25 minutes but in the second half, we felt free, we were there and I had the feeling we were better than them but you have to be perfect in this competition, and we were not."
