Man United youngster Angel Gomes has confirmed his departure from the club in a heartfelt message to fans.
Gomes has found game time hard to come by at Old Trafford, leaving him with no choice but to leave in search of a new club.
The teenage star allowed his deal to run at out at United, rejecting a new offer from the Red Devils.
Chelsea were previously understood to be keen on a move and looked set to seal an agreement after advanced talks
However, little progress was made in regard with the transfer as he finally joins Ligue One side Lille on a five-year deal.
Gomes has since broken his silence on his departure, sharing a lengthy Instagram post with a message of gratitude towards fans, players and the staff.
"It took me a while because it's not been easy to put my emotions into words. Sadly the time has come to end of a beautiful chapter that has been my life for 14 years. Being from Salford, Manchester United is all I have ever known," he posted.
"I wish the club and everyone involved the best of luck, you will all be missed more than you can imagine. I also want to thank the fans, your support hasn't gone unnoticed. Once a red always a red," he concluded.
Meanwhile, his exit came at a time it was believed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to convince the youngster to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
