After more than two years that he last played any competitive football, Nigerian striker Obafemi Martins has rejoined Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
At the age of 35, fans would have been expecting the former Super Eagles star to announce his retirement, but Obafemi Martins is not yet done with football.
Obafemi Martins was last involved in a professional game in April 2018 for Shanghai Shenhua where he scored 32 goals in 59 games in what was an incredible record.
But last year, Obafemi Martins was unable to play any game at all because of the career threatening injury he sustained.
He has however recuperated from the hamstring injury and Obafemi Martins is now ready to return to the pitch for active football.
Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua did not reveal the nature of the contract Obafemi Martins signed for them, but he will be a replacement for Odion Ighalo who is on loan at Manchester United.
Odion Ighalo was expected to return to China in May, but the Nigerian wants to finish the ongoing Premier League season with Manchester United.
The Red Devils extended his contract till January next year before another decision will be taken on his future.
Martins was known for his superb attacking football while playing for the Super Eagles and retired from the national team after 42 games with 18 goals.
