"Trollz," the new single from 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj, suffered the biggest fall from No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the chart's history. The track which was released on June 12 drops to No.34 in its second week.
"Trollz" was the first No. 1 hit for the controversial rapper, who marked the occasion by posting a celebratory video on Instagram where he wrote:
You can't stop me, you can say whatever, I'm No. 1 and you can't take that from me.
Minaj and 6ix9ine previously collaborated on "Fefe" and "Mama" from 6ix9ine's 2018 album Dummy Boy. However, prior to the release of "Trollz," Minaj was slammed for working with 6ix9ine, who pleaded guilty in 2015 to using a child in a sexual performance and received three years probation. The crime for which he had been facing three charges related to acts involving a 13-year-old girl.
Writing about the drastic fall, some fans opine that the trajectory of "Trollz", which was a viral hit thanks to Minaj's social media following, could be the new normal for tracks that received very little radio play.
The song sold the equivalent of 116,000 units, 36 million of which were streams, with only 1.2 million coming from the radio. A fan wrote:
If you remove the industry control factors, it's turbulent. An achievement for one week and painful soon after. We probably will see more of these pop-up hits that vanish soon after in the coming months.
In May, 6ix9ine, who also performs as Tekashi 6ix9ine, accused fellow singers Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande of purchasing thousands of copies of their single "Stuck With U" in order to beat his song "Gooba" to the top of the charts. They denied these claims.
Daniel Hernandez known professionally as Tekashi 6ix9ine, is an American rapper, songwriter.
