Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has finally announced a new club as he promised in a tweet on Sunday, May 31.
Niguez, who has widely been linked with a departure from Atletico took to social media to reveal he would confirm his new club.
"New club. I'll announce it in three days," the 25-year-old tweeted.
However, it has now emerged the midfielder used the hype as a commercial stunt for a new football team called Club Costa City that he has set up in his hometown of Elche.
"There is a new team in the city," he posted.
The formation of the club will see the Atletico star alongside his brother, Aaron, bring together more than 30 teams and close to 500 upcoming footballers aged between four and 18 years old.
The new development will come as a heartbreak for Man United fans who had hoped the talented midfielder would complete a switch to Old Trafford.
The Spaniard has strongly been linked with a summer move to the Premier League with United and Arsenal all said to be interested.
Despite the Red Devils being associated with the likes of Jack Grealish, James Maddison and Jude Bellingham, Niguez would also be considered a possible recruit for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, Express UK reports the transfer can only happen should Atletico accept a few below his £100million release clause.
