Man United star close to quitting club over contract disagreement as stay Chelsea on standby for midfielder

Angel Gomes is reportedly going to leave Man United after the club refused to agree a £30,000-per-week new deal.

It is understood that Premier League rivals Chelsea are on standby for the attacking midfielder if he leaves Old Trafford as a free agent in the summer.

But United are keen to keep the 19-year-old academy graduate whom they believe would yield to their new terms.

The Red Devil chiefs have added additional bonuses if he should score and win trophies to the £30,000-a-week wages offered.

But according to Goal, the negotiations between the player and the club have remained deadlocked.

The Egland U20 international was initially offered a £20,000-per-week at the beginning of the season but he has failed to nail first-team appearances due to injury problems.

It is understood Gomes is willing to stay if he is given more first-team action in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad just as the likes of Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams.

Despite having interest from league rivals Chelsea, Gomes who have made five Premier League appearances this season has indicated that he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

"I've seen it over the years, coming up from the academy and being at United my whole career. It's what I want to go on to do - win trophies for the club," Gomes said on the club's website.
