Relegation threatened Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is the first manager in the Premier League to take a pay cut as coronavirus continues to cripple football in Europe.
Assistant boss Jason Tindall, chief executive Neill Blake and technical director Richard Hughes are also reported to have taken considerable pay cuts as the club looks to cope with the lack of ticket sales from home matches.
Quite a number of staff have also been taken on paid leave and will seek the cushion of the UK government's furlough scheme.
The scheme basically entails the government paying the staff 80% of wages with the club footing the remaining amount.
Bournemouth join the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Norwich City in placing their staff under the furlough scheme.
"As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to gather pace, there are far more questions than answers regarding its effects. One thing is for certain however, the well-being of our employees, supporters, local communities and everyone around the world is of far greater significance than football matches," a statement from Bournemouth football club read.
The English football season is currently suspended with no end in sight due to the current coronavirus menace and it is uncertain when the league will resume.
Prior to the suspension, Bournemouth were dangerously flirting with relegation as a poor season saw them in 18th place after 29 matches.
Other clubs in the relegation zone include Norwich and Aston Villa, with the former already showing signs of struggling financially.
Eddie Howe is currently doing his best to keep in touch with players amid a self-isolation directive in the UK.
The gaffer is also taking the time off football to bond with his children through home schooling and some extra lessons in other fields.
