Liverpool has until the end of April, to activate Timo Werner's release clause, BILD reports.
The Reds are believed to be "serious" about buying the RB Leipzig forward and made contact with the Bundesliga club in January.
Werner has a release clause of £50million to £55million depending on Leipzig's success.
Liverpool could now be forced to make an early move, as the clause expires after April.
Werner is one of the hottest strikers in Europe, having scored 20 goals in 21 league matches so far this season.
Jurgen Klopp is always planning for a defence of the Premier League title, they are on the brink of winning this year.
