Cristiano Ronaldo said he is blessed to become a superstar footie despite coming from a small community Madeira in Portugal, saying he never thought he could have achieved so much at 35.
The Portuguese footie clocked 35 on Wednesday, February 5 and has found himself in the middle of social media discussion amid incredible show of love from football space.
As fans reflect on his enviable legacies in the game with many submitting he is diving towards the twilight of his incredible career, Ronaldo said he thought he would be in his hometown fishing.
" I thought I would be fishing in Madeira,'' Ronaldo said when asked if he ever thought he would still be playing football at 35.
" I knew my dream was to become a professional footballer but to play for Portugal, to play for big clubs I have played for, to win what I have won, it never crossed my mind."
Ronaldo has often been considered one of the greatest players to grace the football space in terms of accomplishments, records, the monetary value and the social prestige.
