Deontay Wilder, WBC champion, has beaten Anthony Joshua to first spot in the Metro 2019's heavyweight ranking list that has the Brit reduced to third.
Joshua defeated Ruiz on saturday night, December 7, through a unanimous points decision at 15,000 capacity Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia to reclaim his heavyweight belts.
The fight, which lasted till twelve rounds, saw the 30-year-old boxer revenge his first defeat to the Mexican champion in June in New York.
However, the victory was not enough to help the Nigerian-British born fighter climb the heavyweight ranking ladder as he was seen down the line behind the WBC champion and Tyson Fury, his countryman.
Wilder sealed the top having successfully defended his WBC heavyweight belt for tenth time include an epochal victory over cuban fighter Luis Ortiz in Las Vega.
And with 41 knock-out wins in 43 professional fights, Wilder has a point to prove as a top star of the division.
Fury came second on this list and he was close to Wilder on point though a two knock-out win for Wilder in 2019 saw him beat the British boxer to top spot in Metro ranking.
Joshua secured the third spot after beating Ruiz to become two-time heavyweight champion in Saudi Arabia.
His victory was hailed by Metro which described the rematch win as as a welcoming return of king for the Briton.
''AJ is back on track to confirm himself as the undisputed king," the magazine said.
Former British Commonwealth champion, Dillian Whyte, came fourth on the ranking after his victory over Mariusz Wach.
Mexican champion, Andy Ruiz capped the top-five spot after being deposed of his heavyweight championship by Joshua.
