Real Madrid have confirmed that vice-captain, Marcelo, has been diagnosed with a muscular injury ahead of their La Liga fixture against Espanyol on Saturday afternoon at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Zinedine Zidane's side made this known in a statement on the club's official website on Thursday.
The statement reads: "Following by tests carried out on our player, Marcelo, by the Real Madrid medical department.
"He has been diagnosed with a muscular injury in his left soleus. His recovery will continue to be assessed."
Real Madrid head to the game following a 2-1 victory over Alaves in the La Liga encounter last weekend.
The kick-off for the match is 1pm Nigerian time.
