Big opportunity for Jose Mourinho as top Premier League giants fire their manager

Premier League giants Tottenham have fired their manager Mauricio Pochettino after poor run of form this season with Spurs sitting 14th place on the League standings.

Tottenham have won three out of their last twelve games, and they have also failed to get a win in their last five matches in the Premier League.

Pochettino's sacking at Tottenham brings to an end his five-and-a-half-years stay with Spurs where he has failed to win the League title or the Champions League.

The 47-year-old Argentine was not the only one who was shown the exit doors by Spurs chiefs as his coaching staff Jesus Perez, Miguel D'Agostino and Antoni Jimenez were also axed.

Mauricio Pochettino took over from Tim Sherwood in 2014 and was in charge of 293 games, winning 159, losing 72 and drawing on 62 occasions.

Last season, he steered Tottenham to the Champions League final, but Spurs were beating 2-0 by Premier League rivals Liverpool.

"We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly, nor in haste.

"Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing,'' Spurs announced in a statement.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been tipped as a replacement for Pochettino at Tottenham.

Mourinho has been out of coaching since he was fired at Manchester United in December 2018.
