EPL: Lampard reveals what he told Tammy Abraham before he scored in 2-0 win over Crystal Palace

Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has revealed what he told his striker, Tammy Abraham, during their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday

Lampard also said that the Nigerian-born England international has proved himself to be a 'top striker' this season.

The 22-year-old became joint-top goalscorer in the Premier League with ten goals in 2019/20 after he scored another during the Blues' win over Crystal Palace.

After a frustrating first half, Chelsea got the breakthrough on 52 minutes when Abraham latched onto Willian's clever flick before slotting the ball home.

Christian Pulisic added another with a header to seal the 2-0 win.

Abraham initially struggled to find joy against the Palace defence and Lampard admitted he urged his striker to liven up at half time.

When asked by talkSPORT if he spoke to Abraham at the break, Lampard said: "Yeah, I did.

"He was slightly off it in the first half for his usual self but it was a tough game - there wasn't much room in behind, there wasn't much room to his feet and I said to him that sometimes the games can just be like that.

"He needed to liven up a bit but if you stick with it then you'll get your moment and top strikers do. At the moment he's proved himself to be that this season.

"The question is can he keep doing it? But what I see from his mentality and desire, I believe he can."
