Son sends message to Gomes after scoring twice in Tottenham's 4-0 win over Red Star

Tottenham Hotspur forward, Son Heung-min has apologised to Everton midfielder, Andre Gomes after scoring twice in his side's UEFA Champions League 4-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade.

Son said he still feels 'really, really sorry' for his involvement in Gomes' horrific ankle injury last weekend.

Recall Son was sent off for his tackle on Andre Gomes during the 1-1 Premier League draw on Sunday, which led to the Portugal midfielder suffering a fracture dislocation to his right ankle.

Referee Martin Atkinson initially brandished a yellow card, but it was later confirmed he showed a straight red card, which enabled the club to appeal the FA's decision.

Speaking on the development after Tottenham's win over Red Star, Son told BT Sport 2: "It was a really, really tough few days. I realised how lucky I am to have the supporters, my friends, my team-mates - everyone gave me such strong messages.

"Of course I still feel really, really sorry for Gomes, about this accident and this situation.

"I had to focus for the team. I had to keep going. I had to keep working hard. I think this is the right answer to all the people who support me."
