Barcelona set to name former Priemer league boss as manager if they sack valverde

Ronald Koeman could join Barcelona next summer if he guides Netherlands to glory after Euro 2020 Championship which will be hosted in 12 countries.

The Dutch tactician has a deal with the Oranje team until 2022 but could trigger his release clause to leave his present job next summer.

Holland are currently joint table toppers with 15 points on Group C table - same points as Germany with two games left to play.

The Flying Dutchmen will return to the European championship next year - two years after failing to reach FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia - thanks to the tactical input of the former Everton boss.

Koeman, 56, replaced D'ick Advocaat as the head coach of the team in February 2018 and his arrival has turned their fortunes around.

SunSport quoting Mundo Deportivo claims Barcelona could activate the coach's release clause if their current coach fails in the Champions League this season.

Dutch FA sporting director Nico-Jan Hoogma confirmed the release clause on Dutch TV after saying: "Agreements were reached in that regard but they would have to pay for it."

Joining the Catalans will most likely raise eyebrow having failed to make impact at the Goodison Park between 2016 and 2017 after spending about £150 million on new players.
