Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly interested in signing Germany forward Timo Werner in the next transfer window.
The 23-year-old has scored eight goals in eleven appearances for Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in all competitions this campaign.
However, Solskjaer will have to compete with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp for the signature of the striker according to UK Metro.
The Reds handler has been an admirer of the player for some time now and he could be plotting his move to the Premier League soon.
Meanwhile, United boss seems to have stepped up his bid to secure the services of the attacker during the January transfer window.
The publication claims Solskjaer believes the German star would solve his side's problems in front of goal rather than going for out-of-favour Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic.
With Werner firing on all cylinder for Leipzig in the first half of the season, United might find it difficult persuading the German side to allow their man mid-way into this campaign.
What this means is that the Red Devils might have to relax until next summer before luring the 23-year-old to the Premier League.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also interested in Werner - meaning United have the Bavarians and Liverpool to contend with in the transfer of the player.
The Red Devils are desperately in need of a striker with Marcus Rashford misfiring and Anthony Martial just returning from Injury after some weeks on the sidelines.
Werner's current deal with Leipzig expires in the summer of 2023 having joined them from VfB Stuttgart in 2016 in a deal valued around €14 million.
