Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Daniele Rugani but continue to haggle over the price with Juventus, according to reports in Italy.
The 25-year-old has come to an agreement with the Gunners over a move to north London, but the two clubs remain in negotiations over how the deal will be structured.
Sport Italia report that Wednesday will be the decisive day in discussions between Juve and Arsenal as they look to finalise the details of the transfer.
Arsenal have already seen a two-year loan deal for Rugani rejected, but it could still be that the centre-back moves on a 24-month loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the temporary spell.
A fee of around €40m (£37m) has been reported, but will not be paid up front, and could be partially transferred at the end of the two-year loan.
Sport Italia report that Rugani has agreed to €4m (£3.7m)-per-year with the Gunners, with performance related bonuses on top of that.
Rugani made his Juventus debut in 2015 but has made just 87 appearances for the club since then, rarely being able to hold down a regular place in the first team.
The most appearances he has ever made in a Serie A season is 22 in 2017/18, while he made just 15 last campaign.
Since the arrival of Matthijs De Ligt this summer, the Italian has fallen further down the pecking order, and despite injury concerns over Giorgio Chiellini, Juventus are willing to let him go.
Arsenal are desperate to add a centre-back to their squad ahead of the new Premier League season and have also seen a bid for RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano rejected.
They will be doing everything in their power to bring in either Rugani or Upamecano before 5pm on Thursday when the transfer window slams shut.
