Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will wear the No.15 jersey in the new season for Liverpool after the departure of Daniel Sturridge, the club have confirmed.
Th English midfielder wore No.15 at Arsenal, but was forced to settle for No.21 when he joined Liverpool two years ago.
Sturridge's impending exit gives Oxlade-Chamberlain the chance to wear his favorite number.
And with the release of the 2019/20 shirts several weeks ago, Oxlade-Chamberlain will personally reimburse any fans who already bought No.21 jerseys with his name on the back.
In the class gesture, Oxlade-Chamberlain will offer a like-for-like switch for the fans affected.
Oxlade-Chamberlain missed most of last season to a serious knee injury, but returned just in time for Liverpool's Champions League triumph.
The 25-year-old is aiming to put his injury woes behind him and return to playing regularly for Liverpool when the new campaign kicks off in August.
Liverpool do not return to pre-season until the start of July, with their first friendly against League One side Tranmere Rovers on 11 July.
The Reds then take on League Two side Bradford City before heading to America for their pre-season tour.
Jurgen Klopp is being tipped for a quiet summer of transfers, with Liverpool only looking to consolidate their squad rather than make any big signings.
