Cristiano Ronaldo urged his Juventus teammates to play for outgoing manager, Max Allegri, after his departure was confirmed by the club.
Allegri told the squad of his impending departure shortly before his Bianconeri bosses went public with a statement on his exit.
The 51-year-old will leave Turin this summer, after five years at the Allianz Stadium.
Ahead of this weekend's final Serie A fixture against Atlanta, Allegri told his players: "Sunday will be [Andrea] Barzagli's last match - and mine too."
That news led to tears from the coach and Barzagli, leaving a number of first-team stars shocked.
However, Sport Mediaset reports applause soon broke out before Cristiano Ronaldo told teammates: "Sunday, we play for him".
Ronaldo and Allegri have enjoyed a good relationship during their season together, following the Portuguese superstar's mega-money move from Real Madrid.
