The superb performances of Nigerian defender Kelechi John has been appreciated in the Primeira Liga as he has been nominated for the Best Player award this season.
Kelechi John currently plays for Rio Ave, and the 20-year-old will now face competition from 22 other players in Portugal for this award.
There will be voting to select the best player among all these stars which will take place on the website of The Professional Football Players' Union (SJPF) according to the report on Futaa.
Already, Kelechi John's impressive display for his club has earned him an international invitation with the Nigerian team.
The former Plateau United man is among the Nigerian Under 23 stars who will face Libya in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Kelechi John and his teammates at Rio Ave are currently occupying 10th position on the Primeira Liga standings with 29 points after 25 games.
Benfica are topping the Primeira Liga so far this season with 60 points after 25 games played.
