Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, has admitted that they might be out of the title race, following a 1-0 defeat to rivals Barcelona on Saturday night.
It was the second time within four days Barca beat Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The win also moved Ernesto Valverde's men 12 points clear of them on the table.
Ivan Rakitic struck the only goal of the game midway through the first half, dinking the ball over Thibaut Courtois.
It was Real's third consecutive home defeat in all competitions and leave them with the Champions League as the only realistic objective this season.
"Both games were very intense and we gave a huge effort in both.
"We had chances, but when you cannot find a goal things slip away from you.
"It's obviously a huge step for Barca, and unfortunately the title is getting out of our reach, but we'll keep fighting until the end," Ramos told reporters afterwards.
