Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Kepa Arrizabalaga apogised to his team-mates after their 'misunderstanding' in Chelsea's Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City.
Kepa refused to be substituted as the clock ticked down in extra-time at Wembley, with Sarri looking to bring Willy Caballero on in the Spaniard's place for the penalty shootout.
Chelsea fined Kepa a week's wages following the incident but reports suggest Sarri will keep faith with the goalkeeper for the side's clash with Tottenham on Wednesday evening.
At his pre-match press conference, Sarri insisted that the matter was 'finished' once Kepa apologised for his behaviour.
'After yesterday the situation is finished. He made a mistake, but stop. I am sure he understood that he made a really very big mistake. For me it's finished.
'I spoke with Kepa of course, then we spoke altogether, he said sorry to the technical staff but it was not enough.
'Then he said sorry to teammates and the club, I think he made a big mistake but we need to be taller, we don't want to kill him. So there is a decision from the club.'
Asked whether starting Kepa against Spurs would sent out a bad message to the rest of Chelsea's squad, Sarri replied: 'It will be a decision for the group, for all the players.
'I want to send a message to my group - I have to decide which is better.
'I have to decide for my group not with my group. I want to send a message to my group - stop.
'The message could be Kepa is on the pitch or out the pitch. I have to decide. I have to decide what is better for my group.'
