Former Arsenal defender, Martin Keown, has claimed that the arrival of Denis Suarez at the club, puts Granit Xhaka's future in doubt.
Suarez joined the Gunners on loan for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day from Barcelona, with Unai Emery identifying the Spaniard as his preferred candidate to strengthen the side's midfield.
With the 25-year-old's arrival, room now has to be made in the starting line-up and Keown believes it will be Xhaka who makes way.
"The arrival of Denis Suarez at Arsenal puts pressure on Granit Xhaka.
"Unai Emery is not going to drop Lucas Torreira, and Matteo Guendouzi has showed promise.
"I am surprised Emery did not prioritise signing a defender but this move clearly suggests that he wants to improve Arsenal's ability to control games in midfield," Keown told BT Sport.
