January 2019 transfer window has closed in which many clubs in Europe used the opportunity to buy some players to bolster their teams till the end of the season.
Chelsea signed Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain to help their attack this season which led to the exit of Spanish forward Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid.
Arsenal also completed the loan move of Denis Suarez from Spanish champions Barcelona as the Gunners currently occupy fourth position on the Premier League standings.
However, our focus in this report will be on the Nigerian football stars who made the move in Europe before the January transfer window closed.
The most cheering news for all Nigerians came on Thursday evening, January 31, when Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala joined Barcelona Ladies.
Here we bring you the top transfer of Nigerian players in January 2019 window
1. Mikel Obi
After playing in the Chinese Super League with Tianjin Teda for two years, Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi made a return to England, but this time around, he joined Championship side Middlesbrough.
Before the former Chelsea star signed for Boro, there were news that AS Roma and Wolfsburg wanted to sign him, but the Nigerian preferred to return to England.
Playing for Boro is also expected to keep Mikel Obi fit for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
2. Victor Moses
Lack of active playing time this season under new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri forced Victor Moses out of the club for a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.
It was clear that the Nigerian was not in the plans of Chelsea manager Sarri and he is now expected to set his career back on track in Turkey.
3. Joel Obi
Nigerian football star Joel Obi has completed a move to Turkish club Alanyaspor on loan from Chievo Verona until the end of the season.
This will be the first time that the 27-year-old midfielder will be playing outside Italy in his career.
4. Francis Uzoho
Super Eagles number one goalie Francis Uzoho has joined Cypriot club, Anorthosis Famagusta on a six-month loan deal from Spanish side, Deportivo La Coruna.
Uzoho was in goal for Nigeria in all their games at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and he should also be available for Super Eagles at the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
5. Uche Agbo
Uche Agbo has joined Spanish LaLiga side Rayo Vallecano on loan from Belgium side Gent where he will be until the end of the ongoing season.
His move to Rayo means a return to the League where he spent six years on the books of Granada and played 38 La Liga games.
6. Asisat Oshoala
And this is the biggest transfer move for Nigerian players as Barcelona announced the signing of Asisat Oshoala on a short term loan deal from Dalian Quanjian until the end of the ongoing season.
At the age of 24, Asisat Oshoala has recorded her names in the history books as she is the first African female player who has played for Arsenal and Liverpool Ladies.
