Alvaro Morata finally reveals why he dumped Chelsea for Atletico Madrid

Alvaro Morata is excited returning to his boyhood club Atletico Madrid following an 18-month loan deal from Chelsea.

According to UK Daily Mail report, the 26-year-old, who played under the two managers - Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea struggled with loss form and confidence.

"I'm absolutely made up and so proud to be here," Morata was quoted as saying moments after signing the dotted lines.

"There were other offers but all that stopped when Atletico came into the equation. I'm here and it's brilliant. I can't wait to train with my new team mates," added Morata, who spent four years at the club's academy before heading to Getafe in 2007 and Real Madrid.

The forward was at the Santiago Benerbeau for four years between 2010 and 2014, but joined Juventus for two seasons before returning to the Spanish capital. Morata later moved to Stamford Bridge in 2017.

"It means a lot for me to be here, with people who know me and I can only give my thanks.

"I didn't need convincing (by coach Diego Simeone) to join. He knew that destiny was calling me here. I can't wait to get started and to play for him, " he added.

The Spanish star is in line to make his debut on Sunday against Real Betis, and could play in the Madrid derby against Real a week later, before tackling ex-club Juventus in the last 16 UEFA Champions League clash in February.
