Andre Pinto and Radosau Petrovic who both play for Sporting Lisbon on Saturday, January 26, suffered fractures of the nose in their League Cup win over FC Porto.
The match went into penalties before former Manchester United winger Nani scored the winning kick for Sporting, but the club would not easily forget the injury sustained by their two players.
Pinto was the first player who got injured in the 53rd minute and had to leave the pitch considering the nature of the wound.
He was then replaced with Radosau Petrovic who also suffered the same injury only two minutes after.
But despite the injury Petrovic also suffered, he remained on the pitch until Nani scored the winning penalty for Sporting Lisbon.
Sporting Lisbon coach Frederico Varandas, who rushed to aid an ill supporter in the stands during the final, was full of admiration for his players after the game.
He said: "We had two players with fractures of the nose bone but they were two real lions."
Sporting Lisbon are currently occupying fourth position on the Primeira Liga division with 38 points after 18 games played, while Porto occupy first position with 46 points after 18 games.
