Chelsea star reportedly agrees 1-year extension in his current deal at Stamford Bridge

David Luiz has agreed a one-year extension in his current deal with Chelsea, according to reports in Brazil.

The 31-year-old's current £120,000-a-week deal expires in June and the Brazil international is free to speak to non-English clubs about a move in the summer.

However the Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica defender has always maintained he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.

According to Goal, Luiz agents had a meeting with Chelsea who usually offer players over the age of 30 a one-year extensions.

The Brazilian is one of Maurizio Sarri's favourite players having recalled him to his starting line up in place of Andreas Christensen.

Luiz has now played more than half of the games he featured for the Blues than he did under former boss Antonio Conte last term.

It is understood that negotiation for Liuz's new deal has been deadlocked due to the player's representative Kia Joorabchian giving his own financial terms to Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.

However, Joorabchian has said that the club are working together to keep Luiz at the West London side.

He told SunSport recently: "Contrary to some reports we are in a very amicable situation with Chelsea.

"We are trying to work out a deal for David Luiz because he wants to stay, the manager wants him to stay and so does the club.

"I'm sure something will be worked out."
