Christian Pulisic turned down the chance to move to Chelsea in January and believes his hopes of doing well at Stamford Bridge, will be best served with a full pre-season, ESPN reports.
The 20-year-old agreed a £58million move to Chelsea at the start of January and was immediately loaned back to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season.
It has been revealed that Chelsea wanted to add Pulisic to their squad this month, but he asked to delay the transfer.
Pulisic believes his best chance of making a positive impression on Maurizio Sarri is during a full summer pre-season, rather than arriving halfway through the campaign.
The loan back to Dortmund also gives him the opportunity to end his time in Germany with silverware, with BVB currently six points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga.
