1. Jose Mourinho
Portuguese tactician, Jose Mourinho, was finally shown the door at Manchester United after recording a string of poor results that saw the Red Devils slump in the Premier League standings.
The former Chelsea boss guided the Red Devils to a 3-1 embarrassing loss against Liverpool in his last match in charge of the EPL giants.
During his two and half year reign at Old Trafford, Mourinho helped United lift the Europa League title, the League Cup and the Community Shield.
He has since been replaced with legendary United star, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who took over on interim basis.
2. Alexis Sanchez
Chilean star, Alexis Sanchez, arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal in a stunning swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move the other way.
Sanchez's move to United was punctuated with excitement and hullabaloo among fans. However, the former Barcelona star has failed to replicate his stunning form at the Emirates with the Red Devils.
It remains to be seen if he will rediscover his feet under new boss, Ole Gunnar Solkskjaer.
3. Julen Lopetegui
Julen Lopetegui was announced Real Madrid manager as Zinedine Zidane's replacement.
Zidane quit Santiago Bernabeu after helping the La Liga giants lift the Champions League title three times.
At the time, Lopetegui emerged as a prime replacement for the French coach while in charge of Spain national football team.
However, his appointment at Madrid was preceded with tough times that saw him relived of his duties after the side suffered a 5-1 defeat to Barcelona in the El-clasico.
4. Misfiring Alvaro Morata
It goes without saying that Alvaro Morata was one of the most lethal forwards.
His perfect start with Chelsea last season saw him earn a call-up with the Spain national team that participated in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
However, the star striker failed to live up to his billing at Chelsea this year and was also dropped from Spain's World Cup squad that suffered a disastrous exit from the mundial.
5. Joachim Low
Germany national team coached by Joachim Low showed up in Russia with the hope of becoming the first country in history to win the World Cup back-to-back.
The star-studded squad had everything to play for.
However, they failed to make out of the group stages of the tournament after racking up defeats.
They eventually crashed out of the tournament.
