Henrik Mkhitaryan has added to Arsenal's lengthening injury list after he suffered a metatarsal fracture during last week's north London derby defeat.

Goals from Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli saw Spurs book their place in the semi finals of the Carabao Cup and gain a measure of revenge for their 4-2 defeat at the Emirates a fortnight earlier.

Mkhitaryan, who joined Arsenal almost a year ago from Manchester United, has been an almost constant fixture in Unai Emery's preferred starting line-up this season but suffered a fractured metatarsal in his right foot and could now miss up to two months.

According to The Sun, the Armenia international suffered the damage following a flying tackle from Tottenham forward Lucas Moura.

The pair were involved in a challenge shortly before half time and the Arsenal winger failed to re-emerge following the interval and was not in the match day squad for Saturday's win over Burnley.

Emery is already short of defenders for the Boxing Day trip to Brighton with Rob Holding out for the season, while Nacho Monreal is due to undergo a fitness test after he limped off early on against Sean Dyche's side.

Hector Bellerin is expected to miss out, however, but both Shkodran Mustafi, who has missed the last four games in all competitions, and captain Laurent Koscielny are likely to be in contention.
