Man United chiefs make final decision on Mourinho after Liverpool hammering

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has been handed a lifeline despite suffering a 3-1 embarrassing defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, December 16.

The thumping put Mourinho's job at United under sharp scrutiny, with a section of football pundits contending the Portuguese would be shown the door.

However, according to a recent UK Metro report citing sources at the Guardian, the former Chelsea tactician will not be sacked as manager.

Instead, United's eggheads have resolved to afford Mourinho some more time to turn around the club's fortunes ahead of the busy Christmas period.

The Red Devils enjoy a favourable run of games over the coming weeks that could potentially catapult them to the top four.

United will be taking on Cardiff, Huddersfield, Bournemouth and Newcastle in the Premier League - all of whom are in the bottom half.

Following the defeat at Anfield, the Manchester outfit sits sixth on the Premier League standings, a staggering eleven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

The side has already conceded more goals this season (29) than they did in the entirety of last season, with their meagre points haul making it the club's poorest start to a season for three decades.
