Croatia midfielder Luka Modric will reportedly emerge winner of 2018 Ballon d'Or award, according to reports.
According to Italian news media outlet, Sky Italia, claim the Real Madrid midfielder scooped the individual award ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann.
This means that the 33-year-old playmaker will break the dominance of Lionel Messi and Ronaldo in the last decade.
But Sky Italia also claim the Argentine superstar is not on the top-three podium finish - his last since Kaka won the award in 2007.
Ronaldo who is now at Juventus was key to Real Madrid when they retained the Champions League title for the third year in row.
On other hand, Griezmann helped his country to win the World Cup during the summer and won the Europa League and the Uefa Super Cup with Atletico Madrid.
The Italian news media also said that both Ronaldo and Griezmann will not be in attendance at the gala on Monday, December 3.
Messi netted 49 goals for club and country which led Barcelona to the La Liga success but had a poor World Cup with Argentina.
France international and Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has won the inaugural Kopa Trophy for the best Under-21 player.
