Ex-Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has asserted he would desperately turn out for Man City boss, Pep Guardiola, if he was still a professional footballer.
BT Sport host and former England international, Gary Lineker, posed the tricky question to the Manchester United legend, asking Rio who he would rather play for among Pep Guardiola, Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp and United's Jose Mourinho.
According to a UK Metro report, Ferdinand ironically settled for Guardiola without a blink of an eye.
In his response, the former defender argued that he would comfortably play for the Spaniard owing to his style of play that excites him.
Ferdinand further snubbed Mourinho for Klopp, observing that the Liverpool tactician also employs the style of football that would perfectly suit him.
"For the style of football I'd rather play for Pep or Klopp because it's exciting, on the front foot, attacking football that allows people to express themselves.," Metro UK quoted Ferdinand.
"That's what I'd like to be a part of," the former defender added with finality.
United's lackluster performance in the domestic league has in the recent times put Mourinho's future at Old Trafford under scrutiny, with former players attributing the club's lack of consistency to the Portuguese's style of play.
Following their dramatic win over Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Ferdinand blasted Mourinho over the former Chelsea manager's comments on his past successes in the competition.
"[I've] had 14 seasons in the Champions League and 14 times I've qualified through the group stages," Mourinho was quoted saying.
However, the comments did not augur well with Ferdinand, who said: "No one doubts the history he's put down the trophies he's won. None of us sit here and say he was terrible before at Real Madrid or Chelsea - he was fantastic.
"But we're talking about here and now. Why are we looking back at his past stuff? You look forward. You look at what you're doing now," the Red Devils icon added.
