Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric, has disclosed that nothing will change in his career this year if he does not win the 2018 Ballon d' Or award.
Recall that Modric was shortlisted for the Europe topflight individual prize last month.
The Croatia captain is having the best year of his career after winning the Champions League trophy and leading his country to a second-place finish at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where they were defeated 4-2 by France in the final.
The 33-year-old, who won the UEFA Best player award and the FIFA's Men Best award this year, insisted that with or without the Ballon d'Or, he is having the best year of his career.
"Let's see what happens," FourFourTwo quoted Modric as saying after Croatia defeated Spain 3-2 in the Nations League fixture played on Thursday night.
"I'm very proud to fight for it. If I win perfect, otherwise it will not change anything.
"With or without the Ballon d'Or, it's the best year of my career."
Modric added, "Since Solari came, we started well. You can see in these four games, he arrival has been very good and hopefully we will continue like this.
"I feel better day by day, I came back very soon after the World Cup and without pre-season it was normal for me to come back, I feel physically better in the last few matches."
