Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, has confirmed star player Alexis Sanchez will not feature in his side's crunch clash against Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday, October 23, at Old Trafford.
The Chilean was at Carrington on Monday, October 22, but missed the club's training session alongside five other key players including Marouane Fellani, Phil Jones, Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot.
Speaking in his press briefing ahead of the Tuesday encounter, Mourinho further hinted that Anthony Martial could be handed a starting role in his line-up for the Juve match.
The Portuguese took time to laud the Frenchman's current spectacular form that saw him play an integral part in United's 2-2 dramatic draw against Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
Martial has been playing second fiddle to Sanchez since the Chilean's arrival from Arsenal in January 2018.
The fall in the pecking order saw Martial push for a move away from Old Trafford in the summer, with his agent making public the player's frustrations with the club.
Meanwhile, the Group H match for the Red Devils against Juventus comes at a time the Manchester outfit is struggling for form in the domestic league after registering a string of poor results in the EPL.
On the other hand, the Serie A giants will be looking to continue with their impressive run of results in the continental tournament where they are group toppers having accumulated six points two matches.
United sit second on the log with four points in a group they were drawn alongside La Liga side, Valencia and Young Boys.
