Three minutes later Burnley conceded their third goal in the match as Fernandinho made it 3-0 for Pep Guardiola's side.
Fernandinho was instrumental to City's fourth goal as Riyad Mahrez also gets his name on the scoresheet to make it 4-0 in the 83rd minute.
Before the blast of the final whistle Leroy Sane completed the rout as he made it 5-0 after benefiting from Benjamin Mendy's assist.
City are two points clear of Chelsea with 23 points as the Blues were held to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge by Manchester United.
