Mixed martial arts fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to dump the sport temporarily after throwing a challenge to fight Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.
In a video clip posted on Instagram by Mayweather CEO Leonard Ellerbe, Nurmagomedov, who extended his mixed martial arts record to 27-0 after beating Conor McGregor to submission in their UFC lightweight title fight last weekend, says he wants to prove to Floyd Mayweather that he is a better fighter.
"Let's go Floyd. We have to fight now: 50-0 versus 27-0. We are two guys who never lose. (But) in the jungle there is only one king. Of course, I am the king because he cannot drop McGregor but I drop him easily. Let's go," boasted Nurmagomedov, whose win over McGregor was eclipsed by ugly scenes that emerged after the fight.
At the moment, the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) which sanctioned the fight are still holding back the Russian purse.
According to reports, the Russian was faulted for scaling the cage to attack a member of McGregor's bench.
Presently, the pair of Nurmagomedov and McGregor have been suspended from fighting by the NAC, pending a probe of the incident.
Interestingly, McGregor tried out boxing last year when he battled Mayweather, but the Irishman was stopped by the American pugilist in the 10th round of their lucrative fight to end his profession boxing career at 50-0.

Despite losing the bout, McGregor reportedly smiled to the bank, with millions of dollars from the fight.
