Manchester United star Paul Pogba has ruled himself out from the contention to win the 2018 Ballon d'Or award, but the midfielder wants one of his teammates at the national team to win it.
On Tuesday afternoon, Paul Pogba and 29 other football stars made the 30 man nominees for the 2018 Ballon d'Or award which was last won by Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
France won the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and seven players of the squad made the 30 man nominees for the 2018 Ballon d'Or.
Chelsea star N'Golo Kante, Spurs' goalie Hugo Lloris, Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane and Karim Benzema are the seven French players.
"Whether it's Grizou (Griezmann), Kylian (Mbappe) or Raph' (Varane), they deserve it much more than me.
"I can not designate one. But I hope with all my heart that this is one of the three.
"One of the four also because there is Kante. That's all I hope for anyway, because there are many who deserve it. I do not put myself in,'' Pogba told AFP according to Daily Star UK.
Meanwhile, the Ballon d'Or since 2008 has been won by either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi and the pair are both among the favorites again this year.
