Lionel Messi loses serious case in Barcelona as court orders him to pay for legal costs

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has lost a court case against the authority of the Spanish daily newspaper ABC over what they published about the football star's foundation finances.

In June 2017, the ABC newspaper published an article highlighting alleged irregularities in the finances of the Leo Messi Foundation.
The news made the Argentina international livid and took the director of the newspaper Bietio Rubido to court demanding €202,786 (£180,064) in compensation.

But judge Patricia Batlle Ferrando of the Gava District Court in Barcelona has found out according to UK Mirror that the investigation done by editor of the newspaper Javier Chicote was true and the case has therefore been dismissed.

The District Court also ordered Lionel Messi to pay Bietio Rubido and Javier Chicote's legal costs after dismissing the case.
Lionel Messi has been superb this season for Barcelona in their fight to retain La Liga title and also win the UEFA Champions League.
