Alisson has revealed he considered turning down Liverpool to stay at Roma in the summer.
The Brazilian had spent two enjoyable years at the Italian club and admits he 'cried' once his departure was confirmed.
Liverpool signed Alisson in July for a fee of £67million, making him the most expensive goalkeeper of all time.
He has already suggested he was worth the money, however, helping Liverpool storm to the top of the Premier League after seven games.
'[Staying at Roma] went through my mind a lot because I was so happy,' he told Gazzetta dello Sport. 'But when a player decides where to play, it's a much bigger discussion.
'I cried a lot, together with my wife. It's only right that I'm honest about it: I made a professional decision; a step forward in my career and for Roma, who earned a huge sum.
'I decided with my head to move to Liverpool, but my heart was full of tears.'
Asked about his time at Roma, Alisson added: 'I spent two special years in Rome. My daughter was born there and I have a lot of friends there outside of football.

After winning their first six league games of the new season, Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea at the weekend.
The Blues appeared to be heading for victory after Eden Hazard continued his fine run with a first-half goal.
But substitute Daniel Sturridge earned the visitors a point with a stunning goal on 89 minutes.
After the eventful match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: 'What a spectacular football game. We had many chances and played fantastic football.
'Getting a point at Chelsea is always a good result but if we play like that, we will win plenty of games.'
Liverpool continue their Champions League campaign on Wednesday with a trip to Napoli.
