A genius piece of play from Eden Hazard saw Chelsea knock Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 victory at Anfield.
The Belgian's incredible 85th-minute run and shot proved the decisive goal after Emerson Palmieri cancelled out Daniel Sturridge's second-half opener.
It was a truly outstanding goal from the Belgian
The tie was the first of a Liverpool/Chelsea double-header with the two teams meeting in the Premier League on Saturday at 17:30 - a game you can listen to live on talkSPORT - but the early stages were still an intriguing watch.
Chelsea controlled the opening exchanges with returning midfielder Cesc Fabregas pulling the strings and it was his ball that gave Alvaro Morata a great chance to open the scoring but Simon Mignolet saved his effort well before the striker's scuffed shot on the rebound went agonisingly wide of the goal.
The home side got better towards the end of the first-half with Naby Keita and Sadio Mane forcing decent saves from Willy Caballero.
Meanwhile Sturridge could have given Liverpool the lead just before the break but he failed to control Xherdan Shaqiri's precise pass.
Sturridge could have had a hat-trick if he was more clinical
And Sturridge was guilty of missing a golden opportunity in the first minute of the second-half after when he latched onto Andreas Christensen's awful backpass, but Sturridge fired wide of the goal despite rounding Caballero.
Mane then had a good chance to score after another Blues defensive mix up but Cabellero was equal to his effort.
But Liverpool did take the lead when Sturridge brilliantly adjusted his body to bicycle kick a loose ball into the net after Keita's fierce shot was parried.
The Reds seemed on course for an eighth straight win but Maurizio Sarri's men came again and found their equaliser when Emerson tapped in the rebound after Simon Mignolet saved Ross Barkley's header.
Sarri has yet to taste defeat as Blues boss
The next goal was a strike that will surely be the best of the whole competition.
Hazard picked up the ball on the right, rode a Mane challenge, nutmegged Alberto Moreno before home to send the travelling Chelsea fans wild and inflict a first defeat of the season on Liverpool.
