Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to face former club Manchester United despite been handed a red card in his Champions League debut for Juventus.
A UK Mirror report claims, Europe's football governing body, UEFA are unlikely to extend the mandatory one-game suspension to two or three games, thus allowing Ronaldo to be eligible to face Manchester United on October 23.
The encounter will see Ronaldo make an emotional return to Old Trafford, before facing United again, in Turin on November 7.
Interestingly, the Portuguese was flashed a red card after he appeared to have pulled Valencia defender Jeison Murillo by the hair during Wednesday night's clash.
He will find out next week whether his one-match ban is extended. An increase would also rule him out of a return to Old Trafford to face former club Manchester United.
Already, UEFA have commenced disciplinary probe against the current world's best player, who headed to the dressing room in tears.
UEFA have now fixed Thursday, .September 27 to assess Ronaldo's red card by their control, ethics and disciplinary panel
Under the body's no player has the right of appeal a one-game ban but sources claim that disciplinary officials, having viewed television clips of the incident, may not add additional ban, even though he left the pitch amid arguments.
Reacting on the dismissal, ex-United midfielder Darren Fletcher stressed, that the decision was a poor call.
"It was a soft sending-off for Ronaldo, but the letter of the law says you probably cannot do that, so I think the one-match ban will probably stick.
"He will feel like he was letting his team-mates down in that moment, but I expect him to play in both games against Manchester United," he submitted.
In the meantime, Ronaldo will miss out of Juve's next group game against Swiss side Young Boys in Turin no thanks to the 11th red card of his career, but first in the Champions League.
