Belgium summer World Cup ace Kevin De Bruyne is targeting the November 11 Manchester derby to stage a return to the Premier League from a knee injury.
According to a UK Sun report, citing sources at Daily Star, there is renewed hope that the City midfielder De Bruyne will return to action days ahead of their cracker against Manchester neighbours United at the Etihad stadium on November 11.
The recuperating De Bruyne returned to the Citizens training session last week after the removal of the protective brace on the injured right knee.
The 27-year-old De Bruyne cropped a lateral knee ligament damage during a training session with City in August and was expected to be sidelined for three months.
The former Chelsea and Wolfsburg ace De Bruyne was in Barcelona recently, to undergo further checks with specialists, whom have now confirmed that the midfielder will no longer require surgery on the knee.
Speaking after De Bruyne's return to training, club manager Pep Guardiola hinted that his star player was "progressing well".
At the last count, the Belgian featured just once for the defending champions against Arsenal this term before suffering the injury.
De Bruyne played an important role for Belgium's Red Devils during an impressive run at the summer World Cup where they were beaten by winners France in the semis.
Since his injury for City, Portuguese star Bernardo Silva has stepped in as De Bruyne replacement, but has just a solitary goal to show for his efforts so far.
