Eden Hazard has hinted that he could be about to take over the captain's armband at Chelsea.
The 27-year-old forward has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid all summer but it's understood he's set to stay on at Stamford Bridge for the 2018/19 campaign following Maurizio Sarri's arrival.
With Sarri yet to name a permanent captain at Chelsea, recent reports have suggested that Hazard could take on the responsibility in an attempt to keep the Belgian at the club.
Gary Cahill was appointed skipper last season but a lack of playing time under Antonio Conte meant Cesar Azpilicueta was often handed the armband.
Azpilicueta once again led the team in their 3-0 victory over Huddersfield at the weekend, with Hazard making a 14-minute cameo appearance in the second half at the John Smith's Stadium.
However, Hazard dropped a hint on Twitter that he could be named captain for the remainder of the season after Chelsea's win.
Hazard changed his cover picture to a photograph of himself wearing the captain's armband which was taken during the side's pre-season clash with Lyon.
The Belgium international almost immediately changed the photo but not before eagle-eyed Chelsea fans were able to share it around across social media.
Asked about the captaincy situation prior to Chelsea's trip to Huddersfield, Sarri said: 'Tomorrow I think Cesar Azpilicueta, but it's not the final decision.
'I want to know well the players, I want to know well the man, and then when my idea will be clear, I will make a final decision.'
Hazard started on the bench at Huddersfield and Sarri explained his decision after the match.
'I think that Eden in this moment cannot play for 90 minutes,' the Italian said.
'He needs to improve [his fitness] and have more training.
'I thought the best thing for him was to play 15 to 20 minutes when the opposition was tired.'
